Joy of Jazz Festival 2020 – March 28th

Public Performance at 4pm, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 900 Blythe St., Hendersonville, NC 28791

As you may have heard, the Hendersonville Community Music Center suffered a devastating loss with the sudden passing of its Director, Robin Tolleson, in June 2019. Without Robin, the HCMC Board concluded that the non-profit would need to dissolve, due to the lack of sufficient funds to hire/pay a director and pay instructors for its many programs. After further discussion with the HCMC Board, the Tolleson family has decided to use the funds donated in Rob’s memory to provide music classes at the Boys and Girls Club through March 2020, and then to focus on continuing the Joy of Jazz Festival (separate from the HCMC) in Rob’s honor, hopefully for years to come.

Since 2017, the Joy of Jazz Festival has provided a one-day workshop for local high school jazz bands. Robin established this annual event as part of HCMC, creating an environment for high school jazz students to learn from local and nationally-known musicians and teachers.

The 2020 Joy of Jazz Festival will take place on Saturday, March 28 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville. We are very happy to have this opportunity to extend Robin’s legacy into the future. Thank you again to the HCMC board members, everyone who has contributed to the Center and supported Robin’s work over the years, and of course thank you to everyone at Trinity. And mark your calendars to attend the performance part of the Festival at 4pm on Saturday, March 28th in the Trinity Sanctuary!
